What About This…? 4.9.2015

By Wayne William Cipriano

Are you old enough to remember what it was like to be completely vulnerable to the “common” childhood diseases like measles, mumps, chicken pox, rubella or the heavy hitters like smallpox, polio or whooping cough? Were you a parent who looked down helplessly upon your beautiful children and heard them say, “Daddy, make it stop hurting.”

Today, we have vaccinations to end them all. Not make them easier to get through or quicker to pass, but end them. And yet, some parents do not vaccinate their children, many basing their resistance on disproven or even purposely fraudulent studies that somehow continue to acquire proponents.

I think of those children who cannot be vaccinated due to allergic reactions or other physical problems that must live their lives at risk.

For parents who are “too busy” to get their kids vaccinated or “cannot afford it” or “cannot talk their kids into taking a shot” or far worse “do not have to because everyone else has been vaccinated,” I have only words that cannot be printed here.

To parents who do not vaccinate their wonderful, priceless children, I say this: You should get on your knees and thank God every day for the parents around you who do vaccinate their children, and by doing so protect your children from the actions of their parents.
