Vera Wanda Hurst was born Oct. 14, 1928, in Ava, Mo., a daughter of Henry and Parilee (Massey) Hurst. She was united in marriage to Henry Clay Haynes on Dec. 3, 1945, in Ava, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2015.  They shared over 69 years of marriage.
Wanda was an excellent homemaker, caring for her family and home.  She was an outstanding cook and could make a meal out of very little ingredients to work with.  Wanda was also an excellent gardener tending to her flower bed and cultivating and canning her vegetables. She enjoyed vacationing with the love of her life, Henry, at their cabin in Arkansas, and also quilting, sewing, researching her family’s genealogy, and reading about the lives and time of our presidents and first ladies.  Most importantly, she cherished the time and the meals she shared with her family.
Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Nursing Home or Genesis Hospice.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita Anderson, Davenport; sons, Roger (Carolyn) Haynes, Montpelier, Iowa, Ronnie (Joyce) Haynes, Welton, Ariz. and Danny (Lisa) Haynes, Elmwood, Ill.;  grandchildren, Scott (Christy) Haynes, Joanna (Roger) Elm, Wendy Bearse, Calvin Haynes, Matthew (Lynn) Anderson and  Jennifer (Jeremy) Gugelmeyer; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Bickel.
