Lance Ray Watterson

Lance Ray Watterson, 53 years, passed to Heaven on Jan. 7, 2015, at Rocky Ridge Nursing Home in Mansfield, Mo., with his family by his side.
Lance was born Nov. 13, 1961 to Jim and Gaytha (Lakey) Watterson in Springfield, Mo.  He graduated from Mt. Zion Bible School.
Lance grew up on the family farm and  lived in Ava his entire life, where he raised Kemmer Stock Mountain Cur dogs.
Recently Lance made a full commitment to Jesus Christ and was saved.
Lance enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing with his three grandsons.  He loved the outdoors  and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Lance was preceded by his Granddad Ray Watterson, Granny Reta Watterson,  Grandpa Evert Lakey, Granny Alta Shanks, and Gordon Shanks, one sister, Faira (Watterson) Spindle, and one infant sister, Angela Watterson.
Lance is survived by his daughter, Brooke (Watterson) Elwood; son-in-law, Shawn Elwood; three grandsons, Jayce, Casten, and Brax; his parents; one brother, Justin Watterson; Uncle Bob and Wilda  Watterson, Uncle Johnny Wayne and Carol Sue Watterson, Aunt Brenda and Jack Freeman, Uncle J.T. and Lorie Lakey of Iowa, Aunt Lula and Don Dyer of Springfield, Aunt Norma and Lee Cornelson of Arizona, Aunt Regina and Jim Evans; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Lance will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Highway Church of the Nazarene, Ava, Mo., with burial in the  Ava  Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m.  to service time at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Hatcher. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Bible School.
