Frieda Thurman, 92

Frieda  Thurman, 92 years, 7 months, and 7 days old, passed to Heaven on Dec. 17, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.
Frieda was born May 10, 1922 in Douglas County, Mo., to Wayne  and  Maudie  (Heath) Thomas.
Frieda was a life long resident of Douglas County.
On Nov. 14, 1946, Frieda and Alva Thurman were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union three children were born.
Frieda was retired from working 20 years at Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava.  She was a Christian and a member of the Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She loved teaching Sunday School.
She enjoyed going to church and church singings. She also delighted in sewing, cooking and gardening. Frieda had a strong spirit that the Lord had given her. She was an inspiration to many.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva in 2009; two granddaughters, Deanna Thurman and Stephanie Phillips; and two brothers, Arley and Delmer Thomas.
Frieda is survived by three children, Frankie Dean Thurman, Platte City, Mo., Ed Thurman and wife, Pam, Niangua, Mo. and Linda Neal and husband, George, Omaha, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren;  two great-great-grandsons; two brothers, Lowell Thomas, Nixa, Mo., Dale Thomas, Ava, Mo.; two sisters, Juanita Eddings, Belleville, Ill., and Ima Stillings Sellers, Branson, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Frieda will be Saturday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m.                   in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Yates Cemetery east of Ava. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor James Moore and Pastor Marvin Loftin.  Memorials may be made to Yates Cemetery or Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
