Reporting on the Tuesday, Dec. 2, closed session meeting of the Ava R-1 School Board, Superintendent Dr. Nancy Lawler states the board voted to accept the resignation of Jason Snelson, high school algebra teacher and supervisor of the dual enrollment classes, offered through Drury University.
Lawler said motions to accept the resignation were presented by Dan Watson and Marsha Aborn, with supporting votes by Jeff Davis, Dan Watson, Marsha Aborn, Randy Spurlock and Vernon Johnson. Ron Wallace was absent.
The voting action was withheld from public knowledge last week, as the board invoked the 72-hour rule, a tenet defined in Missouri Sunshine Law.
The school board will reconvene Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m., for regular session.
