Ava Woman Hurt Seriously In Wreck In Webster County

An Ava woman was seriously injured in a wreck in Webster County last Friday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Maudie Rosetta Pope, 62, of Ava, was crossing U.S. 60 at Diggins and her northbound 2000 Buick LaSabre was hit by an eastbound 2003 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Jason A. Shelton, 40, of West Plains.
Pope was taken by Cox Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Shelton also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance, as were passengers in his van, Heather A. Moore, 40, West Plains, and Abee A. Shelton, 15, West Plains, both also seriously injured.
Pope was the only one wearing a seatbelt, according to the investigating Highway Patrol trooper.
The wreck occurred at 11:30 p.m.
An Ava teen suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle wreck north of Ava in Douglas County on Dec. 3.
The Highway Patrol said Mistyray A. Young, 15, of Ava, was a passenger in a pickup driven by Donna S. Young, 51, of Mansfield. Young’s 1993 Chevrolet Silverado, southbound on Highway 5, struck a table in the roadway at 5:30 p.m., according to Trooper Jason Philpott.
Mistyray Young was to seek medical attention on her own. Another passenger in the truck, Kerri L. Young, 27, of Mansfield, was not injured.
All three women were wearing seatbelts, according to the Troop G Highway Patrol report.
