Douglas County Democrats Meet In Ava Dec. 2

The Douglas County Democrats met on Dec. 2 at Guacamole’s Restaurant.  The meeting was called to order by Chair Teresa Tost, at 5:35 p.m.
The minutes from last month’s meeting were shared with the group via email, but since it had been more than 30 days since our last meeting in October, it was not necessary to approve the minutes.
Chaz Franzke, treasurer, was not at the meeting.  The chair reported the most recent balance provided by the treasurer, but she does not believe it includes all the money donated at our last meeting by members present.  Since we did not have an accurate current balance, it was decided to table any decisions concerning contributions or fund raising activities we would pursue in 2015.  Members were given the opportunity to donate to the group and Teresa collected the money and will deposit it in our account.
Old Business: We had planned to discuss the Farmer’s Market final report, but we will wait on that until we are sure we can get an accurate amount from the treasurer.
New Business: It is time to pay the annual membership dues to the Ava Chamber of Commerce.  This will also need to be discussed at our next meeting.
Teresa told us the Summer Fest for next year is in its planning phase.  Anyone who would like to volunteer should attend the Jan. 5, 2015, meeting at MOCH at 5:30 p.m. Members discussed the option of having a booth to sell homemade items during the Summer Fest to raise funds.
Teresa brought a mailing which she and several other members had received on the Coal Blue Project.  The mailing had been directed to Missouri Democrats, but upon closer scrutiny, it appeared to have goals and objectives which the majority of our members did not approve.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Guacamole’s Restaurant. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn.  Motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
