Christmas Parade Is Just 2 Weeks Away

The Ava Christmas Parade is just over two weeks away, on Saturday, Dec. 13, and the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging everyone to get involved.
Generous cash prizes will be offered to float winners, and other entries will also be judged.
This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Around the World” and floats should be designed to depict that theme.
Riders on horseback, bicycles, golf carts and 4-wheelers may also be decorated and entered in the parade, and costumed pets (on leash) may enter along with walking groups, vintage and classic cars, businesses and clubs.
Ava Lions Club will once again be assisting with the lineup on Industrial Road north of the Copeland plant, and the parade will begin at 1 p.m. and make its way from there to the Ava square.
Parade entries should be registered with the Chamber of Commerce Office no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8.
Prize money for winning floats will include a grand prize of $400, $200 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place.
The Chamber of Commerce is closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, but next week you can call 417-683-4594 for more information about the parade.
Preceding the Christmas Parade on Friday night, Dec. 12, will be the Friday Night Frolic. This event begins at 5:30 and runs until 7 p.m. on the Ava square.
Come out and see Santa Claus in a special visit, hear holiday music, do some Christmas crafts, and enjoy some tasty treats.
Also plan to participate in the Holiday Storefront and Residential Decorating Contests this Christmas season.
Judging will begin at 6 o’clock the night of the parade.
Businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefronts for the holiday season and homeowners are also encouraged to participate by decorating their homes for Christmas.
If you want to be judged, contact the Chamber Office at 683-4594.
