Thelma Iona (Baird) Philpott, 89

Thelma Iona Philpott, 89 years, 11 months, and 6 days old, passed to heaven on Nov. 19, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo., with her family by her side.
Thelma was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Arden, Mo., to Abraham Lincoln and Beulah Pansy (Williams) Baird.
On March 15, 1947 Thelma and William Donald Philpott were united in marriage in Cedar Gap, Mo., and to this union three sons were born.
Thelma was a Christian and had attended the Ava General Baptist Church.
Thelma graduated from Ava High School and soon after she taught for four years in a rural school in Douglas County. She was a retired Avon representative and worked for over 40 years. She had the gift of hospitality and wanted people to feel at home. Thelma also loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends. Thelma was a loving devoted mother, grandmother and sister.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2008; one brother, Burrel Baird; and one brother-in-law, Etcyl Painter.
Thelma is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Ed and Jan Philpott, Mansfield, Mo., Bill and Terry Philpott, Ava, Mo., and Rick and Rona Philpott, Mohave Valley, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Painter, Ava, Mo.; a sister-in-law, “Mag” Baird; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Thelma were Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Seymour Cemetery, Seymour, Mo. Visitation was Monday, Nov. 24, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
