The quarter-mile section of Route 14 in Ava, located approximately a half-mile east of Route O, will open to traffic at 6 p.m. today. This section of roadway closed Friday, Oct. 10 as a safety precaution after last week’s heavy precipitation caused erosion issues.
Missouri Department of Transportation crews have stabilized the area by placing additional rock and partially overlaying the roadway.
In addition, crews will complete patching work Friday, Oct. 17. As work is underway, this section of Route 14 will be reduced to one lane with a flagger.
More improvements are expected to occur in mid-November, weather permitting. MoDOT maintenance crews plan to add shoulders to the curved areas of Route 14 in Ava.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in this area. For additional information, contact MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK-MODOT (1-888-275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/southeast.
