Kiwanis Club Recognizes Citizens of the Month at Ava High School

Ava Kiwanis Club and Ava High School kicked off the Citizens of the Month program for this school year on Thursday, Sept. 18. The presentation was made during the Kiwanis’ noon meeting at Pizza Hut. Citizens of the Month for September are Aaron Everett and Jennifer Withers.
Aaron Everett is a freshman at Ava High School and the son of Bud and Sonya Everett.
Aaron plays football and baseball, and was a member of the Junior National Honor Society in middle school.
Some of his special community service projects include visiting the nursing home on numerous occasions with his church, mowing yards for people in need, and volunteering with the Salvation Army.
Aaron plans to attend college after high school.
Aaron also helps his dad with the family cattle farm. He has three sisters and one brother that have also attended AHS.
Aaron is a favorite to many of his teachers who point out he always follows classroom guidelines, helps out students in need, shows a great deal of respect for his peers, property and teachers.
Teacher comments included: “Aaron exemplifies the pillars of citizenship.  He is a great kid… Aaron is the student you want representing your school.”
Jennifer Withers is a junior at Ava High School. She is the daughter of Lisa and Preston Breshears.
Jennifer participates in band, jazz band, Anchor Club, Spanish Club, NHS, and FCA. She is also the drum major for the Ava Pride Marching Band.
Jennifer has also worked in the Body Project – which served the Food Harvest with several other youth groups.
Jennifer plans to attend Southern Baptist University or Evangel University to major in pre-med and minor in music. One day, she would like to establish her own pediatric clinic and become a missionary doctor to the Dominican Republic.
Jennifer loves being an inspiration to her friends and family through both her academic and social excellence.  Her teachers go on to say that Jennifer goes out of her way to help any time she is needed. She is friendly and respectful to anyone she encounters. She also puts others’ needs before her own.
Jennifer’s school work is never less than perfect, she exemplifies the pillars of citizenship, and she is a pleasure to have in class.  Another student you love to have representing your school.
