It’s Homecoming at Ava High School this week, and all the events will climax with the coronation of the 2014 Homecoming Queen and King on Friday night.
Coronation will be held at halftime of the Ava-Houston football game. A Homecoming dance will be held after the game.
Ava High School has been taking a trip on the wild side during the annual Homecoming Spirit Week. Students have been gearing up to get their favorite costumes and props ready for this week. Things will be interesting as the days are getting deep into the jungle.
Monday was “Castaway” Day where students looked as if they had survived getting shipwrecked onto an island for many days.
Tuesday was Jungle Safari Day where kids dressed as if they were ready to go on a safari! Ava High students were lions, tigers, and Ava Bears! Oh my!
“To the Batmobile, Robin!” Wednesday was Hero Vs. Villain Day where students had their favorite superhero costumes come in to save the day!
The career world is a jungle out there! On Thursday students will dress up like they would to go to their future job, or they will dress as an adventure-seeking tourist.
Students will show their Ava Bear pride by wearing blue and gold on Friday! This year, there is a tribal spin to the traditional blue and gold. They will be getting a little wild with their blue and gold during Tribal Blue and Gold Friday!
This year’s candidates for the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen are king candidates Colton Akers, Tristan Haltom, and Tysen Hathcock, while the Homecoming Queen candidates are Josie Kjar, Madison (Maddie) Guill, and Lakota Blakey.
Kickoff for the Homecoming game is at 7 p.m.
However, prior to the game, at the end of the school day on Friday the annual Homecoming Parade will be held, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The parade will start at the high school, make its way past the cheering Ava Elementary students, then make its way to the Ava square.
