Douglas County Fair Friday and Saturday

The 2014 Douglas County Fair will be held this Friday and Saturday, with carnival rides, livestock and entertainment both days and nights.
Gates will open at 12 noon both days and events are planned until 10 o’clock each night.
Gate admission is $5 for adults 12 and up, and $3 for children 4-11. Kids under 3 will be admitted free.
Also, during Family Fun Night on Friday, one child gets in free with each adult paid admission.
Marriott Amusements, from Jonesboro, Ark., will operate the carnival on the midway on both Friday and Saturday.
In addition, Friday’s schedule includes a livestock show beginning at 1 p.m., a Battle of the Bands from 2 to 5 p.m., and entertainment by Bob Hammons & Wildwood and The Baker Family in the main arena from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday.
At 5:30 Friday, the traditional Denim Gals pageant and Stick Horse contest will be held.
Grandma’s Cookie Jar will feature a cookie recipe contest at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, and the ever-popular Saturday Night Smash demolition derby will begin at 6 p.m.
Other interesting and exciting demonstrations will be held throughout the day.
Details for the Grandma’s Cookies contest can be found with an entry form in this newspaper. Prize money of $100 is being offered to three winners.
The cookies will be given away in drawings on Saturday night during the demolition derby.
Other give-aways will include a guitar and an afghan.
Load up the kids, bring Grandma and Grandpa, and come out to the Douglas County Fair on Friday and Saturday. Ride the rides, view the exhibits and enjoy a lot of good, clean down home entertainment.
