Friendly Neighbors Club

The Friendly Neighbors Club met Thursday, July 3rd at the ambulance shed for their monthly meeting. Present were Pres. Karen N. Davis, Lynn Bentele, Lily Branco, Alice Hurley, Linnie Ingram, and visitor, Karin Tietz, friend of the late Irene Trent.

Alice gave the report of our last meeting as Secretary. Treasurer report was given by Lily Branco. She was given a check for the June picnic, held at Rocky Top campground. She furnished food for the event, besides potluck by members. Lily is working on the ribbons for the Sept. quilt show and Maxine Smith made the blocks for the awards. It was voted upon to have a quilt committee. They are Lily Branco, Annette Rhodes, and Lou Arta Corbin. We gave a donation to Hammond camp. Karen took two quilt or “throws” to the sheriff dept. for emergencies.

On August 7th we meet at the health dept. for a food demonstration by Renee Hambelton. Visitors welcome. We were all concerned about our member, Maxine Smith, who suffered injuries when in a car accident and was in Baxter Hospital. Lynn Bentele left the meeting early to go see her. Our prayers are for her recovery.

What a good rain we had. Gardens will really benefit from it and grass needs mowing again. Unusual for the middle of summer.

Our prayers are with Anna Larson in her health problems and continued prayer for Maxine Smith as she recovers from her accident. Pastor Dale and Barbara Roberts visited them.

Best to all who have health problems. Helen Conardy, Jim and Lynn have had a house full of company: son, Joe Lee Gott, from Japan, wife, Brenda, from Salem, MO., daughter, Megan, was here over the weekend.

Better health is wished for Randie Schmucker and her husband, Mahlon, also. Randie has the Ladies Bible Study grop at the church on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Senior Camp at Piland Youth Camp is July 9th through the 12th and younger group time is July 18th through the 19th.

Best wishes to Bob and Peggy Robbins and all others who are ill.

If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.
