Historical Society Meets April 21

The Douglas County Historical Society held its monthly meeting on April 21.
Sharon called meeting to order. Pat read minutes and gave treasurer’s report, both of which were approved.
Open and Closed signs are still coming off our new sign. We have a temporary solution until we can figure out a more lasting solution.
Fundraisers were discussed. Sally suggested a booth at the nursing home fireworks.  She will check on prices and give report next meeting.  She also suggested a beard contest.  Sharon suggested an old picture contest. They were both held over until next meeting.
The Journal was being proofed and is now at printers.  Some stories are Ritter family, Highway House, and Dedication to Lela Johnson.
No work day this year.  History walk for Summerfest is being considered. Marilyn is working on this but it might not happen this year.  Sharon is working on the Goin website.  After a discussion it was decided to shut it down.
The Society has received a $100 donation to use for research books or displays.  Sharon will look to see what we need and get back to us next month.
There was discussion on old Highway  signs and the new trees in the back yard. They made it through the winter.
A motion was made to adjourn by Marilyn, seconded by Sally. Those attending:  Jack and Barbara Breshears, Tommy Roberts, Sharon Sanders, Sally Hicks, Marilyn Alms, and Pat Carmichael.
