Ava Takes SCA Golf Championship; Tristan Haltom Is Low Individual

The Ava High School golf team took the SCA Tournament Tuesday with the low team score of 330.
Ava’s Tristan Haltom was also low individual with a score of 73, and his brother, Taylor was second with a 77.
Other golfers making all-SCA 1st team are Zach Steed, Thayer, 81; Matthew Coatney, Willow Springs, 83; and Austin Massey, Mtn. Grove, 84.
Second team all-conference honors go to Dalton Howell, Thayer, 87; Chandler Roberts, Ava, 87; Spencer Ary, Thayer, 88; Gavin Bolin, Mtn. Grove, 88; Trenton Unger, Mtn. Grove, 89; Jordan Russell, Houston, 89; and Ty Albrect, Houston, 89.
Making all-conference honorable mention are Hayden Major, Salem, 91; Thomas Clifton, Mtn. Grove, 92; Landon Taylor, Cabool, 92; Triston Oller, Thayer, 92; Ethan Graves, Willow Springs, 93; and Jesse Dean, Ava, 93.
Connor Canape rounded out the Ava team, scoring a 100 in the tournament.
Thayer placed second as a team with a score of 348, and Mtn. Grove was third at 353. Other team scores were Houston, 376; Cabool, 409; Willow Springs, 412; Liberty, 426; and Salem, 428.
Ava also placed first in the Mtn. Grove Invitational on April 24, with the low score of 327.
Ian Barnes, of Licking, was low individual with a 69. Taylor Haltom placed second at 74 and Tristan Haltom was third at 76.
Others scoring for Ava were Jesse Dean, 88, Connor Canape 89, and Chance Clevenhagen, 108.
Thirteen teams entered the tournament. Thayer came in second at 348, followed by Houston at 350. Mtn. Grove was one stroke behind with a 351.
