Ava Golfers Continue To Score Well at Area Meets

The Ava High School golf team competed in meets last week hosted by Seymour and Cabool high schools.
The Seymour meet was held at Marshfield Country Club on April 15.
Tristan Haltom, of Ava, was third low individual with a score of 75, and his brother, Taylor, made it into the top 10 with a score of 85.
Aaron Shoemaker, of Lebanon, was low individual with a 72 and Ian Barnes, of Licking, was second at 74.
Ava’s Connor Canape shot a 93, Chandler Roberts, 99, and Jesse Dean, 100.
Eighteen teams were represented in the meet.
On April 17 Cabool hosted a meet at Wedgewood Country Club, and Tristan Haltom was low individual with a score of 70.
The next best score of 79 was carded by Zach Steed, of Thayer.
Taylor Haltom tied for third with an 80 and Jesse Dean tied for 13th with a 93.
Ava placed second as a team with a combined score of 350, finishing behind Thayer with a 342.
Chandler Roberts shot a 107 for Ava.
Mtn. Grove finished third as a team with a score of 354, followed by Willow Springs 373, Houston 378, Cabool 389 and Salem 416.
Ava hosted a JV tournament at the Ava Country Club on Wednesday and Ava High School will host a varsity and JV meet on May 1.
The SCA meet is Monday, April 28 at Cabool. District golf is May 5, hosted by Mtn. Grove, and sectionals will be May 12 at Joplin.
