Josephine O. Peebles, 85

Josephine O. Peebles, 85 years, 3 months, and 30 days old, passed to Heaven on Jan. 21, 2014 at home with her family around her.
Josephine was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Pansey, Mo., to Austin and Eva (Howard) Wright.
Josephine and Louis Peebles were united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1945 at Ava, Mo., and to this union three children were born.
Josephine operated the Sears store in Ava in the 60’s. She mostly worked on the farm with her husband, Louis and family.
Josephine was a member of the Dogwood Nazarene Church. She was a 4-H leader for many years and was active in the PTA at Plainview School. Josephine was a local member Ava Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists and the Ava Art Guild.
She enjoyed making cookies with her grandchildren, gardening and caring for her flowers. She also enjoyed painting and quilting.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Irene Epps, Laverne Owen, and Norma Lee Lambert; and two brothers, Leo and Gerald Wright.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Louis Peebles, of the home; her children, Mitchell Peebles and wife, Mary, Ava, Mo., Joanna Matlock and husband Jerry, Cumby, Texas, and Glenn Peebles and wife, Shuping, Westport, Wash.; 12 grandchildren;  36 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Josephine will be Friday,  Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava,  with burial in the Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be  Friday from 10 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Lafferty and Pastor Gary Riley. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or donor’s choice of charity.
