Mental Health Workshop Reset

Douglas County CHART has rescheduled the free youth mental health workshop for Friday, Jan. 24.
This workshop was originally set for Friday, Dec. 6, but was postponed due to snow at that time.
Teachers, coaches, mentors, club leaders, youth pastors and club leaders are among those especially urged to attend the meeting that will be presented by Community Partnership. Presenters are trained professionals working through the Department of Mental Health, according to CHART chairman Nina Carter.
Sponsored by CHART (Douglas County Community Health Assistance Resources Team and Interagency Council), this one-day workshop is for adults who regularly interact with adolescents (ages 12-18).
The workshop is for, but not limited to, juvenile justice professionals, medical staff and first responders, parents, foster parents, Sunday school teachers, and older adolescents in leadership positions.

The seminar will be held in the Board of Education room at Ava High School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
This training teaches how to
• assess for risk of suicide or harm;
• Give reassurance and information;
• Listen nonjudgmentally;
• Encourage jappropriate professional help
• Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
The training is free; workshop packets and lunch will be provided.
