Middle School Girls Get Back On the Court

The Lady Bears got back into action after losing a week of games due to snow.

The Lady Bears traveled to Houston on Thursday to take on the Lady Tigers.

The 7th grade would jump out to a quick lead in the first and enter half-time with a 32-4 lead.   The Lady Bears went on to defeat the Lady Tigers 43-11.

Lauren Mendel led all scorers with 13 followed by McKenzie Lumley and Kate McDonald with 6 each, Kiaunna Snow 5, Emily Frampton 4, Ashton Bewley 3, and Araina Evans 2.

The 8th grade Lady Bears entered halftime up by 2 but lost the lead in the final minute of the game falling to the Tigers 28-25.   Sierra Boatman led all scorers with 13 followed by Serenity Bristol with 6, Hailey Pedersen 3, and Kaylee Evans 3.

The Lady Bears would take on a competitive Licking team at Licking on Monday night.   The 7th grade came out pressing hard in the first quarter and would take a 15-11 lead. The Lady Bears continued to push, and took the game 34-15.   The Lady Bears had 22 steals on the night led by Snow’s 8. Snow also led all scorers with 12 followed by Mendel with 8, Bewley and Evans with 4, and Emily Stillings, Gracie Heinlein, and Jada Gunter with 2 each.

The 8th grade also took on a nice Licking team and fell short 32-23.   Scorers for Ava included: Boatman 7, Evans 6, Kathrin Buff 5, Pedersen 2, Bristol 2, and Makayla Diel 1.

The Lady Bears will start back up on Jan. 6 in the West Plains Tournament.
