Ava Art Guild Has Workshop Set For This Saturday

As the weather gets colder the Ava Art Guild winds down its year.  This has been a really active and productive year with interesting and educational workshops each month, two great and successful art shows and special exhibits.
In June an art camp for kids was held with over 250 kids in attendance for the week. The kids made some really fun art projects from recycled items.  The Art Guild was also honored to host Shirley Yiping Zhang a world renowned artist from China.
Although we are coming to the end of the season we are not finished yet. On Saturday Nov. 16 the last workshop of the year will be held. It is one of the funnest and most fulfilling. Attendees will make and paint ornaments that will be given to the local food pantry to be included in their holiday food boxes. The Art Guild will also decorate three trees to be donated, they will be used for a free raffle and the food pantry will give them to families in the area that might not otherwise have a tree. The November meeting also is a chance to have a potluck to share a time of food and fellowship with others who enjoy art.  You do not have to be a member to attend as everyone is welcome. The workshop is free and all supplies are provided by the Art Guild. Social time and potluck start at 1 p.m., business meeting at 1:30 and workshop at 2 p.m.
On Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Art Guild will hold its annual Open House. If you have never been to the gallery at 303 E Washington Ave (across from the Douglas County Herald office) this is the perfect time to visit.  There will be art that is created by our local artist and members.  There will also be refreshments and shopping  available.
The gallery not only has art but unique gifts for sale.  If you are looking for a handmade Christmas gift at reasonable prices this is the place to find it.  There are handmade soaps,  handbags, jewelry along with framed art.
Ava Art Guild has been selling tickets as a fundraiser and the drawing will be at the Open House on Dec 7.  The prize is a two nights stay for two people at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Ark.  The prize was donated by the hotel. There are some restrictions but what a great prize!  Tickets can be purchased at the gallery which is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the time of the drawing.
