Ava Hosts Buffalo In District Football; Could Play Here Again Next Wednesday Night

As the 2013 football season moves into district play, the Ava Bears will host the Buffalo Bison tonight (Thursday) in first-round play.
The Bears defeated Willow Springs last Friday night, 14-0, in Week 9, to improve their record to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the SCA.
The game begins at 7 p.m. at Dr. C.E. Harlan Stadium and Silvey Field. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
Admission for this first-round game (only) will be $3 for adults and $1 for students. As post-season play continues, gate admission will be set by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).
With a win tonight over 0-9 Buffalo, the Bears would advance to the district semifinals game on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
As the No. 2 seed in Class 3, District 3, Ava would also host that game with the opponent being the winner of the Springfield Catholic-Rogersville contest which is also being played tonight.
Admission for the Round 2 game on Wednesday will be $5.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will play for the district championship on Monday, Nov. 11. Eldon (6-3) is the No. 1 seed in the district. Please refer to the Douglas County Herald website for updated information as district play continues.
