Ava Cross Country Team Runs at Nixa

The Ava high school varsity and junior varsity cross country teams traveled to Nixa to attend the host school’s invitational cross country meet, which was held at Inman Elementary School on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Races were divided into large and small school divisions in the varsity races.
The boys’ varsity raced against 15 other full teams and placed 4th behind Class 2 state champion from last season, Lamar, who placed 1st, Springfield Catholic 2nd, and College Heights 3rd.  Ava’s Caleb Stillings placed 9th overall with a time of 17:35, his second best time of the season.
Jordan Dimirsky placed 15th in a time of 18:11, his third fastest time of the season. Both Caleb and Jordan medaled by placing in the top 20.
Jacob Luebbering placed 28th and ran a 19:05, also a second best performance of the season for him.
Hayden Schuster placed 50th with a time of 20:14. John Vineyard ran a 21:46 and placed 75th.  New to Ava this year, senior Garrit Swainston, ran in his first meet of the year in 25:31.  There were 112 runners competing in the Classes 1 and 2 race.  Kaden Overstreet and Nicholas Ray, both from Lamar, placed 1st and 2nd in times of 16:42 and 16:43, respectively.
In the girls’ varsity race, Bailey Ray set a new personal record of 24:21 and came in first for the Ava Ladies.  Megan Cooper ran a 25:28 and JimiLynn Raybould ran for 25:53. Springfield Catholic placed four runners in the first four spots with Kelly Devlin leading the Lady Irish with a 20:47 finish.
In the junior varsity race, which was a 2.2 mile distance, Brett Mitchell ran a time of 16:18.  Jonah Brown followed with a 16:56.  Madison Schuster ran the course in 19:53 and Mallory Allen clocked a  20:45.
