Volleyball Lady Bears Chalk Up Another Win

The Lady Bears came out with another victory for both the JV and varsity squads Tuesday night against New Covenant Academy out of Springfield.
The JV won the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-15.
Strong serving from the JV team helped them to pull out the win. Dusty Graham and Cera Longino had four aces apiece, Shelby Bushong added three, and Hunter Shelton had one ace of her own.
The Lady Bears were led in kills by Bushong who had seven, Graham added four, Shelton had two and Longino and Kira Collett  added one apiece.
The varsity Lady Bears also pulled out a win against the Lady Warriors winning both sets with scores of 25-20 in the first set and 25-16 in the second set.
Inconsistent serving really hurt the Lady Bears in the first set but the girls rallied back in the second set and only missed three serves.
Darian Bushong led the team with three aces, Courtney Mings and Maddie Guill added two aces as well.
The Lady Bears also had a better hitting night with almost all the players getting kills.
Bailey Loge and Erica Croney led the team with six kills apiece, Courtney Mings added four kills, Rachel Swofford and Caley Wallace each had two kills, and Destiny Sparnicht and Alena Stokes added one each.
Courtney Mings led the team in assists with five and Caley Wallace had three.  The Lady Bears improve their record to 3-6 and travel to Forsyth on Thursday and also to the Cabool tournament on Saturday.
In tournament play on Saturday, the Lady Bears will open in pool play with Mtn. Grove, Thayer, Willow Springs and Poplar Bluff in the White Pool. In the Blue Pool are Cabool, Liberty, Plato and Strafford.
