Plainview R-8 School Board Meets Monday, Sept. 16

The Plainview R-8 School Board met in regular session on Monday, Sept. 16, with all seven members present.
In consent agenda items the board approved: minutes from the regular and closed Aug. 19 board meeting; authorized payment of bills; evaluations of Transportation and Professional Development;  enrollment and class size; appointment of the Homeless and ELL coordinator; secretary of the board report; and approval of bus routes.
Mrs. Regina Lafferty was the teacher present at the board meeting. She presented information about her class this year and the different activities they are doing.
In Principals report, Mrs. Brenda Reed reported the new ice machine is installed and working.
She also said Grandparent’s Day was a huge success with a large number of grandparents attending.
The School Carnival has been set for Saturday, Oct. 12.
Mrs. Reed is checking into prices to upgrade the Internet service.
The deck/ramp at the 1st and 2nd grade trailer was discussed.  Mrs. Reed is going to look at the cost of replacing it.
The board reviewed and discussed the C section of the Board Policies.
Board met in closed session to discuss personnel and high school tuition issues.
Next regular Board of Education meeting will be Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. in the school library.
