Area Elementary Teachers Attend Environmental Education Summer Institute

Thirty-six area elementary school teachers recently attended an Early Elementary Environmental Education professional development summer institute at Missouri State University-West Plains to learn new hands-on projects they can use to teach students in kindergarten through fourth grade about environmental science.  The institute, led by representatives from the Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri State University College of Education in Springfield and Missouri State Outreach Teacher Education Completion Program in West Plains, was made possible with funding from an Improving Teacher Quaility Grant through the Missouri Department of Higher Education.  First row from left:  Angela Nicholson, Birch Tree Elementary; Candra Goodchild, Mtn.
