Raymond Doyle Lakey, 84

Raymond Doyle  Lakey, 84 years, passed to heaven on Sept. 8, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.
Doyle was born Nov. 1, 1928 in Douglas County, Mo., to Jason and  Bertha Hazel (Sharpton) Lakey.
Doyle was a lifetime resident of Douglas County. He was a retired excavator and machine operator owning his own business for many years. He also was a Army veteran and served during the Korean War.
On June 3, 1950 Doyle and Goldie Mae Stall were united in marriage in Dogwood and to this union one son, Chris was born and two special children that Doyle and Goldie raised, Angela Stall and Mark Stall.
Doyle was a Christian and attended the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Dogwood. He enjoyed playing all string instruments and all kinds of music. He  also loved running heavy equipment.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis “Bud” Lakey and Dallas Lakey; and nephew, Mark Stall.
Doyle is survived by wife, Goldie Lakey, Seymour, Mo. (Douglas County); son and wife, Chris and Christy Lakey, Seymour, Mo.; niece, Angela and Rodney Barker, San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Daniel Lakey and Tracey Greene, Seymour, Mo.; and Wendy Crossland and Tim Pogue, Seymour, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Crossland and Shelby Crossland; two siblings, Don and Verlene Lakey, Sparta, Mo., and Mary Gray, Ozark, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Doyle will be Thursday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Dogwood Cemetery (west of Ava on Hwy. 14) with military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post #112. Visitation was Wednesday, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating is the Rev. James Orick. Memorials may be made to Dogwood Cemetery.
