Softball Girls Opened Season Wednesday On Ava Diamond

The Ava Lady Bears opened the 2013 softball season at home in SCA action with Mtn. View-Liberty Wednesday afternoon.
The girls will play at home again today at 4:30 in non-conference action with Dora, and will travel to Salem on Sept. 3 for an SCA contest.
Three seniors, Bailey Lee at second base, Kayte Aid at third, and shortstop Maison Bovard will solidify the infield, along with junior Lakota Blakey or sophomore Hope Evans at first base.
Pitching for the Lady Bears are juniors Misty Regennitter, McKenna Hunsaker and Blakey. Sophomore Jacey Swofford started behind the plate for Coach Rex Sawyer last year as a freshman and returns there this season.
Junior Callie Eubanks is a returning starter in the outfield, with competition for playing time between junior Maranda Yost, sophomores Kinsey Thompson and Keeley Deal, and freshmen Gabi Loeber and Morgan Miller.
Other team members are junior catcher Ashley Helm, sophomore infielders Kendra Walker and Molly Henderson, and freshmen: catcher Maci Jones, infielder Emily Guengerich.
