Richard E. Putnam, 94

Memorial services for Richard E. Putnam, 94, of Branson, were held on March 18, 1013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Branson. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
Richard passed away on March 12, 2013, at Cox Medical Center, Branson, after a short illness.
Richard was born March 15, 1918, in Grafton, Mass., to Fred E. and Jessie Julia Lee Putnam. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II, and also served during the Korean conflict.
He was owner and operator of grocery stores in Saxtons River, Vt., and Ava, Mo.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On Dec. 22, 1945, he married Elena May Brown in East Dummerston, Vt.; she preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Arthur Putnam, in 1971; his parents; and three sisters.
Survivors include one son, Ronald L. Putnam and wife, Carol, of Rockingham, Vt., and one daughter, Priscilla Spencer and husband, Cecil, of Norwood, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be held at a later date in Bennett Cemetery, East Dummerston, Vt.
