Leo Eldon Brooks, 91

Leo Eldon Brooks, 91 years, passed away on March 20, 2013 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo., with his family by his side.
Leo Eldon was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Girdner, Mo., to Walter Earnest and Deborah “Dee” (Ipock) Brooks.
Eldon was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. On May 18, 1946 Eldon and Wilma Porter were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union two daughters were born.
Eldon was retired from Rawlings Sporting Goods Co. in Ava, Mo., where he had worked for several years. He was an Army veteran and served during World War II. He was a member of the Black Oak General Baptist Church, Douglas County American Legion #112 and Ava VFW #5993.
He enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music. His joy was always being with his family. Eldon was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma in 2007; one brother, Verlin Brooks; and one sister, Lela Burris.
Eldon is survived by two daughters, Treva Brooks and Reanee and Denny Roberts, all of Ava, Mo.; two grandchildren, Buffy Dale and Heath and Cara Roberts, and one great-granddaughter, Haley Dale, all of Ava, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Eldon were Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 112. Officiating were Pastor Dale Roberts and Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Douglas County American Legion Post 112.
