Kathie Elaine Evans, 55

Kathie Elaine Evans, age 55, of  Battle Creek, Mich., died unexpectedly, Tuesday evening, Feb. 26, 2013, at her residence in Urbandale, Mich.
Kathie, the daughter of  Theron  H. and Ruth E. (Krebs) Evans, was born on May 18, 1957 in North Tonawanda  Niagara, N.Y.  She was a 1975 graduate of St. Philip Catholic High School and attended Kellogg Community College for accounting.  Kathie was a business woman at heart, having owned and operated a gift store in Urbandale and Denver, Colo., and most recently, was the owner of rental properties in the Urbandale area.
She was a longtime member of St. Jerome’s  Parish of  Battle Creek, worked its bingo and was a member of its St. Vincent DePaul Society and Women’s League.  Kathie was currently a member at St. Ann Catholic Church of Gull Lake, Augusta, Mich.
Kathie was preceded in death by her father, Theron on Nov. 23, 2003 and by her mother, Ruth, on June 19, 1985.
Surviving are two aunts, Earlean R. Evans of Ozark, Mo., and Connie A. Jennings, and husband Jim, of  Lewes, Del.; four cousins,  LaRaine Evans-Bauer, and husband, Scott, of Nixa, Mo., Pamela K. Caswell, and husband  Loren, of Crossroads, Mo., Lacey Evans Matheis of Springfield, Mo., and Shurdena R. Evans, of Strafford, Mo.; numerous other family members and a host of dear friends.
Kathie was well known and loved, and will be greatly missed!
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Kathie’s life was held on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Battle Creek, Mich., with Father Christopher J. Derda, pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church, Celebrant.

Graveside services for Kathie were held Saturday, March 2, at 10 a.m., at the Union Grove Cemetery, Crossroads. Officiating was Father Paul Wightman.
