Irene J. Oates, 91

Irene J. Oates, 91, passed away on Dec. 21, 2012, at home in Porterville, Calif. The daughter of Jessie and Clifford Paddleford, she was born in Ava, Mo., Jan. 4, 1921. In 1944 she married Paul I. Oates, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Oates, her husband and four sons moved to Visalia, Calif.,in 1957. She worked at R.L. Polk and Company until 1964 when she went to work for Tulare County.
Mrs. Oates worked at the Welfare Department until her retirement in 1981. For eight years during retirement, she worked part time at Bateman Hearing Aids in Visalia. In 1992 she moved to Fresno where she lived for 10 years prior to moving to Porterville.
Mrs. Oates was preceded in death by her younger brothers Robert and John.
She was the beloved mother of John and wife Janet, of Alaska, James, of Iowa, Robert and wife Sandy, of Porterville, and David, also of Porterville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
No services will be held.
