Richard Louis Walker, Sr., 92

Richard Louis Walker, 92 years, passed away on Nov.5, 2012 at the James River Care Center in Springfield, Mo.
Richard was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., to Edward John and Mary (Deibel) Walker.
Richard retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Colonel with 26 years of service. He served in both World War II and Korea.
Oct. 8, 1945, Richard and Jane Wyman Barrett were united in marriage in Florence, S.C., and to this union three children were born.
Richard also was a rancher and loved working in the outdoors.
He enjoyed nature photography, cooking and music, playing the harmonica with several local groups. Richard was also involved in a variety of community affairs
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jane (Barrett) Walker in 2000 and a daughter, Darsie Walker.
Richard is survived by two sons, James “Jim” Walker and wife, Sandra, Ava, Mo., and Richard L. Walker Jr., Cascade, Colo.; three grandchildren, Melissa, M.J. and Michael Walker; one great-grandson; a sister, Carol Barker and her husband, Charles “Bud”, Worth, Ill.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo. No services are planned per his preference. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Neighbor Helping Neighbor or donor’s charity of choice.
