Carl Neiman Chapter Meets November 8th

The Carl Neiman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met in the basement of the Ava General Baptist Church on November 8th, 2012, at 7:15pm. The meeting was called to order by Regent Nina Carter and opened with prayer by Chaplin Sherry Beasley. The Opening Ritual was recited by Regent Nina and Chaplin Sherry. The Pledge of Allegiance, American’s Creed and Preamble to the Constitution were also recited.

Our program was given by Kerry Ogden from the American Red Cross, the West Plains, Regional Office. Kerry told us about the various people being deployed to help with the Hurricane Sandy victims, on the East Coast. The American Red Cross is 97% volunteers. Kerry recruits volunteers for the Red Cross. Some of the services the Red Cross provides are loaded credit cards, first month’s rent, supplies, dentures, medication and so much more for victims of fire and other disasters. One of the most important things the American Red Cross provides is hope. They also have blood drives and special things for our veterans. They also provide care packages for our solders overseas. Anyone that would like to donate to the Red Cross contact Kerry Ogden at 573-707-0478. They now have an Emergency Management office located in the old White River Electric building. They are open on Tuesdays in November and Thursdays in December.

We voted on perspective new member Lee Huett. The membership was in full accord and accepted Lee’s membership with open arms. Welcome Lee!! Our next meeting will be December 13, 2012. This is our Christmas meeting and everyone is bringing something for snacks. Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!!
