Douglas County Republican Committee Report
On Oct. 16, the Douglas County Republican Committee hosted an educational presentation for the public. The main topic was Agenda 21 – short for “United Nations Agenda for the 21st Century.” State Representative Lyle Rowland spoke about his proposed bill to prohibit Agenda 21 in Missouri based on a similar law that was passed recently in Alabama.
McMurtry Township com-mitteeman Wayne Griswold, who has been studying the U.N. documents on Agenda 21, spoke briefly about what he has learned, then showed a 15-minute video and handed out written materials. Several meeting attendees provided personal testimonies about the negative effects of Agenda 21 programs in their communities.
As was presented, Agenda 21 is the outcome of the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. This comprehensive plan of global control is taxpayer funded. It makes the U.S. Constitution subordinate and champions collective rights above the rights of individuals. It jeopardizes private property ownership, single family home and private car ownership, individual travel choices, private farms and family values.
Agenda 21 is being advanced in communities throughout the U.S. by the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) and local organizations with names like “Smart Growth,” “Wildlands Project,” “Resilient Cities,” “Regional Visioning Project” and other “Green” or “Alternative” programs. In essence, Agenda 21 calls for world government based on “sustainable development.” Social studies texts in schools would be altered to favor this agenda, with socialism portrayed in a favorable light, while America’s free trade and capitalism are denigrated.

The Douglas County Republican Committee voted to support Representative Rowland’s proposed bill to ban Agenda 21 in Missouri and plans to provide information packets for Douglas County officials, including a DVD presentation. A petition will be circulated and submitted to our State and Federal governments in opposition to this UN program.
You are invited and encouraged to attend the next meeting of the Republican Committee, to be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m., at the Ava Victory Academy. It was agreed that Representative Rowland will report on the progress of his bill to defeat Agenda 21 at the February 2013 meeting. This meeting will be open to the public.
