Volleyball Bears Fall To Panthers Tuesday Night

The Ava Volleyball Lady Bears dropped an SCA match to Mtn. Grove Tuesday night in Wright County.

Ava came up short in a two-game decision, 13-25, 16-25.

Ava junior varsity lost in three sets, winning the first game 25-7, then falling 19-25, 23-25.

In varsity play, Brittany Walker and Destiny Sparnicht were each 6-for-6 serving and Cori Dry was 5-for-6 with one ace.

Rachel Swofford was 4-of-4 blocking and had one kill. Alena Stokes was 3-for-3 blocking and 5-for-8 hitting with two kills.

The girls will travel to Willow Springs tonight (Thursday) and will go to Thayer on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

The VolleyBears will play their final home match on Thursday, Oct. 18, hosting Springfield Central. With that being the final home game it will also be Senior Night.

In the meantime, the Ava 9th grade and junior varsity will be playing in tournament action at Mtn. View-Liberty this Saturday.

District tournament play is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 22. Ava will play in District 10 at Bolivar.
