Volleyball Girls Beat Salem, Fall To Cabool, Liberty

The Ava Lady VolleyBears took a big SCA win from Salem on the home floor on Thursday night, Sept. 20, but let a Cabool match slip away in three games on Sept. 25.
Ava defeated Salem 25-18, 28-26 behind strong serving of Destiny Sparnicht who was 12-for-12 and Darian Bushong, 10-for-10.
Cori Dry hit 9-of-10 with two kills and Courtney Mings was 8-for-10 hitting with two kills.
Sparnicht and Makenzie Watterson each had a kill, as well.
Ava JV lost to Salem 16-25, 22-25. Brandee Cutbirth served 12-for-13 with four aces, and was 11-of-15 on digs. Bailey Loge served 7-of-9 was 1-for-2 hitting with one kill, and 7-for-7 on digs.
The Lady Bears battled a strong Cabool team on Tuesday, Sept. 25. After dropping the first set 20-25, the Lady Bears came back to take Game 2 by a score of 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong in the third game of the match, and took the game and the match, 15-25.
Alena Stokes was 14-for-15 serving with two aces, 11-for-16 hitting with seven kills, and 24-for-30 on digs.
Brittany Walker served 11-for-12 with one ace, and Cori Dry was 8-for-9 serving with two aces.
Rachel Swofford was 6-of-7 blocking and 4-for-7 hitting with three kills. Courtney Mings also had three kills in the match.
Ava JV lost to Cabool 5-25, 10-25. Jessie Davis was 3-for-3 hitting with two kills and Megan Barnes was 10-for-15 hitting.
On Thursday, Sept. 27, the Lady Bears lost in two games to Mtn. View-Liberty in SCA play on the road.
