Violent Lightning Storm Causes Damage in Area

A violent lightning storm that lingered over the Ava area for several hours last Friday morning caused considerable damage, resulted in power outages, and in east Ava, shattered a tree and drove a 2-foot shard of splintered wood into the side of a house. No one lived in the house on NE 4th Ave., and no one was injured. Ava Rural Fire Dept. and the Ava City Fire Dept. responded to a residential fire east of Ava caused by the lightning, and other possible lightning strikes were checked out by Ava Police and Ava Fire Dept.
