Skyline School Board Hears Audit Report

The Skyline R-2 School Board met in regular session on Thursday, Sept. 20 with four members present. The consent agenda items were discussed and approved.

In old business the board reviewed and approved the 2012-2013 bus routes.

In new business, Matthew James, auditor, presented the 2011-2012 audit report. Mr. James reviewed the financial procedures and statements, stated that ADA was up from the previous year, and stated that assessed valuation was up but the return percentage was down for the year. He stated that he had three basic findings which deal with segregation of duties, who prepares the financial statements for the audit and accounting manual policies.

The Superintendent’s Report disclosed enrollment of 76 students in kindergarten through Grade 8, plus 15 preschool students.

The Skyline Foundation reported on a few fundraisers they were having and on the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which has 33 students enrolled.

High school tuition rates were discussed and the board was pleased to announce that Ava had reduced its tuition by $200.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
