Carl Neiman DAR Meets Sept. 13

Regent, Nina Carter called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 13.  All members recited the opening ritual – The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, the American’s Creed, The Pledge of Allegiance to the State of Missouri and the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States.

Chaplain Sherry Beasley gave the opening prayer, and one guest and one prospective member were welcomed.

Nina read the President General’s message.  The treasurer’s report was given by Sherry Beasley.

Constitution Week was discussed.  The library looks great.  Cinita and Nina decorated the entrance to the library for Constitution Week.  Cinita will once again go next week to speak to all the 4th graders in Douglas County about the Constitution.  Constitution minutes were given to the radio station for spot announcements and to the newspaper for publication.  Chapter members also had a picture taken with the mayor as he signed the proclamation for Constitution Week.

Southwest district meeting will be next Wednesday in Springfield.  Three members plan to attend.

Judy Ross read the National Defense report, and the President General’s blog was discussed.

Marilyn Alms will be the new Service for Veterans Committee chair.  Doris Liniger is the Women’s Issues chairman, and Judy Ross is the new National Defense chair.

Chaplain Sherry Beasley reported on our ill members, and family concerns.

The program given by Cinita Brown was about the Constitution,  how it has evolved, and what it still means to us today.

Refreshments were served and the meeting was adjourned.
