Michael Bill Roy, 63

Michael Bill “Mike” Roy, 63, of Harrisonville/Kansas City metro, passed away Sept. 6, 2012, at Carmel Hills Rehab Center surrounded by his brothers and sisters.

Visitation was 9-10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo., with funeral services at 10 a.m. Burial followed in Brushy Knob Cemetery, Douglas County, Mo., at 4 p.m.

Mr. Roy was born Aug. 13, 1949 in Norwood, Mo. to Lizetta (Heard) and Lawrence Roy.

Mike’s early years were spent in Wolf Point and Baker, Mont., where he had many friends and continued to stay in contact with them throughout the years. He graduated high school in Louisville, Neb. After high school he joined the U.S. Army, served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.

He was a caretaker for his mother for 18 years. Mike was known for his total love and dedication to his Lord, Jesus Christ. He spent countless hours reading scripture to our Mom. We, his family, are human enough to know that we will miss him terribly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lizetta and Lawrence Roy, brother Darrel, sister-in-law Clara Roy, brothers-in-law, Pete Peterson and Dean Gerke.

Survivors include brothers and sisters James, of Clinton, Okla., Harold, of Las Vegas, Nev., Beulah Peterson, of Wolf Point, Mont., Vivian Gerke, of Columbus, Mont., Jerry and Mary Ann Roy, of Las Vegas, Nev., Sue and John Ady, of San Diego, Calif.; nephew Larry Roy, who was like another brother to Mike, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and sister-in-law, Kathy Roy, of Wolf Point, Mont.
