Ava Men Hurt In Separate Wrecks Here Last Week
An Ava man was airlifted to a Springfield hospital last Wednesday, Sept. 12, with serious injuries following a one-vehicle crash on Route O, 11 miles west of Ava.
The Highway Patrol said Thurman R. Black, 44, of Ava, ran his 2002 Ford Ranger pickup off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road. The truck overturned, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the investigating officer, Cpl. Jim Britt.
Black was taken to Mercy Hospital, Springfield, following the 5 p.m. crash.
Kenneth E. Breeding, 38, of Ava, was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13, following a motorcycle wreck on E. Highway 76 at CR 101.
Tpr. Ryan Vaughan, who investigated the wreck for the Highway Patrol, said Breeding was traveling west on a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle and failed to negotiate a left hand turn, traveling off the right side of the roadway.
His injuries were described as moderate, by the trooper.
The wreck occurred at 3 p.m.
