72nd Annual Hailey Family Reunion
The 72nd annual reunion of the Hailey family met at the country home of Mary Kay and David Davidson west of Ava on Sunday, September 2, 2012. The family has gathered annually every year since 1940 to celebrate their heritage and connections as the descendants of James Hailey, a Civil War veteran and one of the first residents of Ava.
A delicious potluck dinner was enjoyed by twenty family members. At the business meeting led by Edwin Hailey, chairman of the Hailey Family Preservation Association, the family discussed funding for the upkeep of the two family cemeteries. Anyone interested in helping support the maintenance of the cemeteries can contact Edwin Hailey. Family members also shared stories about past reunions and gave updates on their relatives who could not attend this year.

The family will meet again next year on the Sunday before Labor Day at the Davidson home.
