Robert Michael “Mike” Day, 50

Robert Michael “Mike” Day, son of Arnold and Carol Hutchison Day, was born Feb. 8, 1962 in Cabool, Mo., and died on Aug. 10, 2012, in his home in Wichita, Kan., at the age of 50 years, 6 months and 2 days.

On May 26, 1984, he was united in marriage to Annelise Rummens and to this union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Laverne Hutchison and Charley and Carmen Day.

Mike is survived by his wife, Annelise of the home; three daughters, Amanda Miller and her husband Todd of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Caitlin Day and Erin Day, of the home; a son, Seth Day, of the home; two grandchildren, Daniel and Claire Miller; his parents, Arnold and Carol Day of Mansfield, Mo.; a brother, Steve Day and his wife Jean of Rolla, Mo.; a sister, Stephanie Gamble and her husband Kris of Springfield, Mo.; his parents-in-law, Bob and Nancy Rummens of Rogersville, Mo.; brother-in-law, Steve Rummens and his wife Cheri of Mansfield, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Lucy McLennan of Belmond, Iowa and Michele Westhoff and her husband Cory of Petersburg, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Mike grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1980. He worked at Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield and after he and Annelise were married moved to Sedalia where he attended State Fair Community College. While in Sedalia he worked for the Sedalia Democrat Newspaper and started route sales for the Lance Company. They moved to Wichita, Kan., in 1994 where he continued route sales with Lance, J.D. Enterprises, Hostess and Deli Express before his sudden passing.

Mike was a people person and quite a salesman. He never knew a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone.

In his spare time he liked fishing, cooking special meals for family and friends, was an avid sports fan and was active with his kids and their activities.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the wonderful memories.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Services were Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. in Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield, with the Rev. Raymond Haden officiating.

Music was provided by Tia Westhoff, Cheri Rummens, and Michele Westhoff, pianist. Musical selections were: “Shepherd Me O God”, “Sweet Hour of Prayer Medley.”

Escorts were Curtis Haden, Eddie Calhoun, David Pointer, Brad Smith, Randy Holmes, Shawn Snider.

Honorary escorts were: Cory Westhoff, Steve Rummens, Bill Coonce. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield.
