Walleye fishing is probably the best it has been in years. Trolling worm harnesses behind bottom bouncers has been really effective.

I am often asked how big a bottom bouncer should you use, and I recommend one ounce for every 10 feet deep you want to troll. Right now the successful fishermen are using three-ounce bottom bouncers.

Deep diving crankbaits like the number 7 or 9 Berkley Flicker Shad are also producing some nice walleye. Spooning for walleye has produced some big walleye.

Catfish are active and cut bait or live bluegills are the preferred baits.  Lots of good-size cats are coming on jug lines fished along deep bluff walls. Big bluegills are in 25 to 30 feet on bluff walls and worms or crickets are your best baits.

Bass fishing on Bull is hit or miss. Night fishing has been tough with few bites and fewer fish.  Single spins have been working as have your usual arsenal of jigs, creature baits, worms and saltcraws.  Last Saturday night the water temperature was in the high 70’s and a lot of bass were shallow – like right on the bank. Strike King makes a one-eighth ounce buzz bait and those using it have had some success at night. As the water continues to cool bass fishing should only improve.
