Ava Man Hurt In Wreck Near Elkland

The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated a wreck in Webster County Monday involving an Ava man.

Troop D, Springfield, reported Daniel Dirksmeyer, 33, of Ava, stopped his 1995 Mazda on Highway 38 three miles southeast of Elkland, with the vehicle crossing the center line.

A 1988 Kenworth tractor-trailer rig, driven by Kenneth T. Clifton, 32, of Marshfield, came around a curve and struck the Mazda head-on.

Dirksmeyer was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries.

The wreck occurred at 4:25 a.m.
