Noble Lakey, 81

Noble  Lakey, 81 years, passed to heaven in the early morning hours of June 2, 2012 in his home with his loving wife, Bonnie, by his side.

Noble was born Oct. 29, 1930 in Douglas County, Mo., to Ira and Zelma (Nall) Lakey.

He lived most of his life in Douglas County. On Aug. 12, 1956, Noble and Bonnie Byerlee were united in marriage in Bonnie’s parents’ home in Ozark County, Mo., and to this union four sons were born.

Noble was an Army veteran and served in Okinawa, Japan from 1952 to 1954. He was a retired truck driver for Tracker Marine Co. for several years in Springfield, Mo. Noble was a Christian and was baptized as a child in the Baptist faith. He had attended with Bonnie the Ava Church of Christ.

He loved the outdoors and loved to fish. He also enjoyed hunting and tinkering with vehicles. Noble loved spending time with all his family and especially his grandchildren.

Noble was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Bill, Gary and Kevin Lakey; a grandson, Andrew Lakey; and three brothers, Alvin, Norman and Perry Lakey.

Noble is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lakey, Ava, Mo.; one son, Stanley Lakey, Ava, Mo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leon Lakey, Ava, Mo., Larry and E.J. Lakey, both of O’Fallon, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Noble were Wednesday, June 6, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Denlow Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating was E.J. Hampton. Memorials may be made to Denlow Cemetery or to the family as a love offering.
