Speaking at the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Ava Cemetery Monday, Associate Circuit Judge Craig Carter made reference to the many small, unadorned grave markers in the veterans section of the cemetery. "They had no wives, no children, so they have no heirs to remember them," he said. The Memorial Day program is sponsored jointly by American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993.
