Naomi Ruth Burdue, 84

Naomi Ruth Burdue, 84 years, the daughter of Gertrude “Gertie” (Buchanan) Wilson and Herman R. Wilson, was born Oct. 4, 1927 in Ava, Mo., and departed this life on April 30, 2012 at her home with family by her side.

Ruth was a resident of Ava, Mo., for the past eight years moving from southern California. At age 14, Ruth moved with her family to California.

Ruth attended Gentry elementary school through the 8th grade, and subsequently graduated from high school in California.

In 1963 Ruth and “Buddy” Burdue were united in marriage in California.

Ruth retired from the Pacific Bell Telephone Co. with over 40 years of service. She also worked as a telephone switchboard operator for Balboa Hospital in San Diego, Calif.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,  “Buddy” Burdue; a son, Jerry Burdue; two brothers, Wilmer and Virgil Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Dorsey Huffman.

Ruth is survived by a sister, Doyne Huffman, Ava, Mo.; one nephew, Scott Huffman and Gail, Ava, Mo.; two great-nephews, Benjamin and Jarrett Huffman; one great-niece, Mariah Huffman; and special friends, Marvin and Sybil Fleetwood, Ava, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services for Ruth will be Saturday, May 5, at 11:30 a.m. in the Denney Cemetery, Ava, with Joe Corum officiating. Memorials may be made to Denney Cemetery or the charity of choice.
