Top water activity has started and will only get better in the next few weeks. Spooks, poppers and red fin type baits should start working in the morning and again at dusk. Fish windblown main lake points for bass. Spinnerbaits and deep diving crankbaits worked last weekend and this combination will work for quite awhile yet. The Rapala DT10 up to the DT16 series have been very effective. Fire tiger or the purple back color have been  very effective because of the water color. With water temperatures in the mid 70’s, jigs and plastic worms will also work. Again fish the windblown main lake points. Most of the bass have moved out of the back of the creeks and if you fish the creeks concentrate on points, coves  or chunk rock.

Walleye are being caught on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and live worms. Quite a few walleye are being caught by bass fishermen while fishing for bass. Last Saturday my partner and I caught a good walleye on a spinnerbait and had several more follow the spinnerbait back to the boat. Trolling with live worms is the most productive method for catching walleye.

Big bluegill are abundant in the 20-foot range along the bluffs. If you find standing timber this is another place to find big bluegill. Catfish have been active and both the rod and reel fishermen as well as the juggers have been having good success.  The cats have been aggressive and several have been caught on spinnerbaits and crankbaits in addition to the baits normally used to catch catfish.
